Petrone Technology Group Wins CEDIA Award for National Polo Center
Petrone Technology Group has been recognized by CEDIA for its work at the National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida, earning the Technology Beyond the Home award for a large scale commercial audio integration spanning the 161 acre property.
The National Polo Center is one of Wellington’s most recognizable destinations and home to world class polo, dining, events and entertainment. The goal was to create a powerful, reliable outdoor audio system that could deliver the level of performance expected at the property while remaining discreet within its surroundings.
A Complete Audio System Across 161 Acres
Petrone Technology Group designed and installed a new distributed audio system throughout the National Polo Center, working alongside the Coastal Source design team to determine speaker placement and conduit routing across the property.
Because traditional landscape drawings were not available, the team used aerial imagery from Google Earth to carefully map the system before installation. New direct burial rated cable was then run through conduit across the pool, patio and restaurant areas.
Coastal Source Line Source 12.0 bollards and an 18.0 subwoofer were selected to provide the output needed for large events while maintaining a clean footprint throughout the property. Instead of placing traditional speakers prominently throughout the grounds, the bollard design allowed the audio system to blend naturally into the landscape and preserve the sightlines of the National Polo Center.
Simple Control for a Sophisticated System
A system of this scale also needed to be easy to operate.
Petrone Technology Group integrated the audio into the National Polo Center’s existing Control4 platform, creating straightforward presets and favorites that allow staff to manage the system without extensive technical training.
The property’s network infrastructure was also addressed in collaboration with the National Polo Center’s IT team. Wireless access points and the multi network WiFi environment were reconfigured to create a reliable backbone for the new audio system.
WattBox and OvrC power management were incorporated for remote system management and surge protection, an especially important consideration in South Florida’s high lightning environment.
Built for Polo Events and Entertainment
One of the standout elements of the National Polo Center installation is its DANTE based audio distribution.
During the property’s weekly polo after parties, DJ audio can be routed directly through the installed Coastal Source speaker system. This eliminates the need to bring in a completely separate DJ sound system while allowing the property to take advantage of the permanent high performance audio already integrated throughout the space.
The project also expanded to include a complete rebuild of the restaurant’s existing audio system, bringing the different areas of the property together under a more cohesive technology infrastructure.

The National Polo Center project is a strong example of Petrone Technology Group’s ability to take the same attention to design, performance and reliability found in its luxury residential projects and apply it on a much larger commercial scale.
From outdoor audio and networking to automation, system control and remote management, every part of the installation was designed around how the National Polo Center operates every day.
